Mobile Police Arrest Armed Man with Glock Switch

MOBILE, Ala. Police in Mobile are reporting that a person armed with a Glock firearm which also had an illegal switch modification that turns the gun into an automatic instead of a semi-automatic handgun, was involved in an armed incident on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Police said that at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers observed the subject arguing with a male individual near N. Jackson Street and St. Francis Street.
As officers moved closer, they observed the subject lift his shirt and expose a firearm in his belt while gesturing towards the firearm.
Officers immediately detained the subject, later identified as Kelvin Barnes, 28.
Barnes, 28, was arrested and transported to Metro Jail on charges of Possession of Machine Gun Conversion Device and Disorderly Conduct.
