An insurance agent has been arrested by area law enforcement for fraud and is currently in the Mobile jail.
Dwight Dean, 48, is charged with sex counts of insurance fraud involving the production of certificates of insurance for at least two small businesses.
Law enforcement is continuing their investigation saying that there are multiple victims.
According to Mobile District Attorney Keith Blackwood, the insurance company was defrauded. There are the small businesses that were the vendors that this defendant was doing business with. They wouldn’t be covered in certain circumstances that might involve civil liability, and so it was a fraudulent scheme to enable this defendant to conduct a business,” said Blackwood.
This is not the first time that Dean has been accused of conducting shady business. He was previously terminated from his employment when discrepancies with certificates of insurance were discovered and reported to the Alabama Department of Insurance.
At this time, the jail records indicate that Dean is no longer being held at the Mobile County metro jail.
