Mobile County Deputies Make Arrest in Friday’s Shooting

PRITCHARD Ala. The Pritchard Police Department and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Friday, May 23, 2025.
when officers arrived, one male was found bleeding from a gunshot wound.
The shooting occurred Friday morning at 340 Baldwin Drive and police said that one male was shot and taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit developed information on who the shooter was and located Demetrius Andrews, who was wanted for the shooting.
Witnesses and surveillance video from a nearby business helped in the identification.
MCSO found Andrews walking on Baldwin Drive, and he was detained for questioning.
During an interview with MCSO Detectives, Andrews confessed to the shooting but claimed self-defense.
However, a witness stated that she and Andrews had a fight. After walking away and crossing the street, the victim asked if she was okay. Andrews then saw her speaking with the victim, threatened him, and an altercation ensued, which the female witness broke up. Andrews then left but returned with a weapon, shot the victim, and fled.
Andrews has been arrested and charged with Assault 1st.
