GULF SHORES, Ala. A man involved in a shooting incident last year in Gulf Shores has been found guilty of several charges.
Police said that 38-year-old Hipolito Hernandez-Modesto, from Mexico, had also illegally reentered the United States after being deported.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that court documents show that officers with the Gulf Shores Police Department responded to a call for shots fired on Oct. 18, 2025.
Officers found that Hernandez-Modesto had discharged a firearm multiple times and police arrested him.
After contacting Homeland Security Investigations and ICE, Gulf Shores Police determined Modesto was removed from the U.S. in 2020.
Hernandez-Modesto was sentenced to time served and one year of supervised release. He will be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings upon his release. He has also been ordered to pay $100 in special assessments.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative to remove drugs, violent crime, and guns from the country.
