Gulf Shores Police Find Woman Unconscious in Roadway

GULF SHORES, Ala.

Just before 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon a driver spotted a woman lying lifeless in the middle the road on West Lagoon Avenue and immediately called 911.

Gulf Shores police and fire departments along with a Medstar ambulance was dispatched and treated the unconscious woman on-scene.

A medical helicopter was also dispatched and airlifted the woman to a trauma center in nearby Florida.

During the course of their investigation, Gulf Shores police determined that the woman was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road.

Later, police were able to find a person that may have been involved and took them into custody for questioning.

Police have not said if this person has been charged with a crime at this time.

EMS said that the condition of the woman was serious. Her name has not been released.
