Groundbreaking For Mobile River Bridge Delayed Until 2026

MOBILE, Ala. According to a statement from ALDOT, the groundbreaking for the Mobile River Bridge has been delayed until 2026:
ALDOT remains committed to the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project. Work is ongoing: Kiewit, our design-build team, has opened a project office in Mobile, pile testing is underway alongside the Bayway, and vibration testing is underway in Mobile.
Given the complex and evolving nature of a major project like the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway, our project team has been careful not to commit to any specific dates prematurely.
Last month, we informed the Mobile MPO that the pre-construction development work would extend into the next year. While we are still not setting firm timelines, we hope to be in position to move forward sometime next year.
