The former Mobile Public Safety Director is the latest to throw his hat in the race to be Mobile’s next mayor.
Lawrence Battiste said that he is ready and more than capable of leading the city as it continues to grow and prosper.
Battiste, worked as a sheriff investigator, the Chief of Police in Pritchard and as the Chief of Police in mobile before becoming the Public Safety Director, under current mayor Sandy Stimpson for four years.
Battiste said that he has made this decision with prayer and much consideration and believes that it is the right choice for him at this time.
Areas on his agenda as the mayor would be the issues of crime, homelessness, affordable housing, and bringing people together into unity.
Battiste has officially filed the necessary paperwork and joins Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson and Spiro Cherigotis who say that they will make a run for the mayor’s office.
Other possible candidates have also commented on their interest in joining the race.
