Eastern Shore Shots Fired Calls Unsolved
DAPHNE Ala.
For almost four months now, sporadic reports of gunfire have come from several areas of the
Eastern Shore area.
During the early part of the summer, there were reports of gunfire in Daphne and Spanish Fort on the same night but neither agency found any confirmation of any type of shooting.
One social media comment alleged that kids were shooting birds after several birds were found dead in a community in July.
But cats, not kids, were the culprits in this matter.
Another speculated that someone was riding through the two cities shooting randomly at street
signs or election signs, but that suggestion also, could not be confirmed.
Fairhope residents reported gunfire late at night around Mobile Bay, but the Fairhope Police had sent out advanced notice to residents that a military unit was holding training in the area and using non-lethal firearms and other sounds to simulate a firearm.
From time to time, especially in rural areas, teens and adults can be found shooting out the vehicle window which is illegal to do.
When in doubt, always call 911. As they say, it’s always better to be safe, than sorry.
