Driver Crashes During Robertsdale Police Pursuit

UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as Chris James John Allen Carter. He crashed his vehicle into the Blackwater Creek during the pursuit.

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. Police attempting to make a traffic stop for a moving violation found themselves engaging in a pursuit that did not end well for the driver.

Once police activated their emergency equipment, the driver sped off.
Several law enforcement agencies chased the suspect who eventually crashed off on County Road 48 at around 12:40 a.m.
The vehicle left the roadway and landed into a body of water.

Robertsdale Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Police searched the area and eventually called the Daphne Search and Rescue to assist in searching the pond.

The suspect was eventually taken into custody at around 3 a.m.
Law enforcement said that he already had outstanding warrants and now will face additional charges including attempting to elude law enforcement.
