Driver Charged With Murder in Mobile Hit & Run

MOBILE, AL. On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at approximately 6:19 p.m., officers responded to 4880 Schillinger Road S. (Circle K) in reference to a person struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the vehicle left the scene prior to their arrival with the victim trapped underneath.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the vehicle in the 4400 block of Dawes Lane E., approximately two miles from where the incident occurred.
The victim, identified as Sam Walker, 57, was found deceased near the vehicle.
It was discovered a fight ensued between the victim and the subject.
The subject, identified as Jacob Cross, 30, intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle.
Cross was arrested and transported to Metro Jail.
Cross has been charged with murder, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while suspended, and is now being held without a bond.
Mobile police said that this remains an active investigation.
