Convicted Felon Sentenced to Prison on Gun Charge

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. A Baldwin County man previously convicted of breaking and entering in a vehicle and third-degree robbery has now been sentenced to federal prison after he was found with a gun as a convicted felon.
After being arrested and found guilty, Larry Wooten Jr. was sentenced to 37 months in prison on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Daphne Police Department officers were called to the Eastern Shore Motel on January 2nd, 2026, for a report of a domestic violence incident.
Officers said that when they arrived, Wooten was combative and they attempted to tase him, but it was not effective.
“The taser probes did not incapacitate Wooten, and he pulled the probes from his body with his hands,” the release read.
Officers were able to eventually get control of Wooten after a struggle and arrest him, according to the release.
As police were conducting a search of him after the arrest, officers found a loaded handgun in his pants pocket. Police said that it appeared Wooten had tried to damage the serial number on the gun using a file.
A search warrant was executed on the hotel room that Wooten was staying in they also found marijuana and a used marijuana grinder.
