Community Pool Assault Leads to Death of 70 Yr.-Old Woman-Arrest Made

HOOVER, Ala. Police were called to a neighborhood on Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, regarding an assault at a community pool.
Terry Lynn Walker-Zuniga, who has been identified as the victim of the attack, was 70 and lived in Hoover, succumbed to her injuries that night.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said that the death was a result of injuries sustained in the assault. Walker-Zuniga sustained injuries during a reported assault is what the coroner’s report states but the official cause and manner of death have not been released.
The Hoover Police Department said that officers responded at around 9:30 p.m. to the 2200 block of Little Valley Road after receiving a report of an unresponsive person in a community pool.
Medical personnel also responded.
Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and Walker-Zuniga was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officers notified detectives who later found evidence that a physical struggle took place shortly before Walker-Zuniga’s death.
Investigators located a person of interest nearby and determined she was an acquaintance of the victim.
Anastasia Tsefia Sudarsana, 30, of Hoover, was arrested and charged with murder. She is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.
Although an arrest was made, police are not releasing many details, and it is not clear what time the assault happened or what caused the attack.
The Hoover Police Department is investigating the death.
