Citronelle Man Arrested After Shooting His Wife in the Head

CITRONELLE, AL. Police have arrested a man for shooting his wife in the head during a domestic dispute.
Citronelle Police Chief Chris McClean stated that after the woman was shot, she made it to her vehicle and tried driving herself to a hospital but stopped at a location near Highway 45 and Chunchula-Georgetown Road and called 911 for help.
Police and fire personnel, along with an ambulance, responded to the area and found the woman.
She was treated at the scene and then transported to an area hospital.
Police located the shooter, identified as Joseph Smith, and took him into custody.
At this time, Smith is charged with first-degree domestic violence, according to jail records.
