DAPHNE, Ala. A 22-year-old Daphne man is in police custody after he turned himself in to Daphne police after exposing himself to a woman at the Village Point Park on Main Street.
This park is centrally located and frequented by mothers with mainly small children and across the street from Christ the King Catholic church and school.
Police said that Michael Ryan Cain surrendered at the Daphne Police Department Correction Center on an outstanding warrant for Class A misdemeanor indecent exposure, officials said.
The incident reportedly happened on August 20th, 2026, at around 4 p.m.
The woman reported that a man approached her in the parking lot and intentionally exposed his genitals. When the woman stood her ground and warned that she would defend herself, the man fled in a pickup truck, according to police.
Police were able to track the suspect down with the help of a photo taken by the woman as he drove away.
He was booked into jail and is scheduled to appear before a municipal judge in October.
If convicted, Cain faces up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $5,000, and potential mandatory registration on the Alabama Sex Offender Registry, according to officials.

FLOMATON. Ala. Two children rushed to a Florida hospital in critical condition on Tuesday morning have now led to their parents being arrested for child abuse, and torture. And police now say that those charges have been upgraded to attempted murder.
Alabama authorities were contacted about the children’s condition and immediately began an investigation.
Eric McClure, 41, and Cynthia Tedder, 36, were taken into custody in Pensacola, where they await extradition to Alabama. Both are charged with torture and willful abuse of a child under 18 years of age by a responsible person.
According to police, these new charges were filed based on evidence uncovered during the ongoing investigation.
Florida officials alerted the Flomaton Police Department shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday after the child arrived at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Following an initial inquiry, officers executed a search warrant at the victim’s residence, yielding evidence that led to the arrest warrants according to police investigators.
Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call Lt. Thaihee Staples at the Flomaton Police Department at 251-296-5811.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. A woman dying from cancer had only one wish before she departed this world and employees at the Huntsville Hospital, made it happen.
Facing a terminal diagnosis, 74-year-old Jeannie Guffey wanted to be baptized before going home under hospice care.
For some it might have been a bit of a task but some special nurses worked out the details, and it all came together.
First, the three Huntsville Hospital ICU nurses used their own money to buy a kiddie pool so dying patient Jeannie Guffey could be baptized.
Nurses Erin Powers, Kaitlin Swaim, and Emily Owens ordered a pool from Walgreens, had it DoorDashed to Huntsville Hospital, filled it with warm water using ventilator tubing, and then used a ceiling lift to lower her in.
Her son performed the baptism with family around the pool.
Guffey died peacefully a week later.

GULF SHORES, Ala. No doubt about it, the fall is my favorite time to be outdoors walking, hiking and camping and many visitors flock to the Alabama Gulf Coast too for cooler weather and less crowded beaches.
But exploring our diverse outdoor areas is also a favorite pastime for many tourists as well.
Now locals and visitors have a little more room to roam, explore, ride a bike through or jog with this new addition.
Community leaders, elected officials and Alabama State Parks staff gathered Friday for a ribbon-cutting and ceremonial grand opening of the extension, which brings the Fort Morgan Trail to approximately 10.5 miles along Alabama Highway 180, also known as Fort Morgan Road.
“This is a great day for south Baldwin County,” said Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Chris Blankenship. “Extending the Fort Morgan Trail gives residents and visitors more opportunities to walk, bike and enjoy the beauty of Alabama’s Gulf Coast. Projects like this create new ways for people to experience the outdoors, support tourism and enhance the quality of life for the communities we serve. I’m proud to support this project and excited to see this important connection completed.”
The new 4.4-mile section extends westward from Plantation Boulevard to a new terminus near Fort Morgan Pizza, giving visitors additional opportunities to experience the coastal landscape by foot or bicycle. The trail is paved and 10 feet wide along its entire length, providing a safe and accessible route for walkers, runners and cyclists.
The extension also includes 12 bridges designed to help preserve critical coastal wetlands along the route. At the new terminus, visitors will find a new bathhouse featuring four private, family-style suites designed to provide comfort and convenience for trail users.
The Fort Morgan Trail also connects with the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail system, giving visitors access to a larger network of approximately 28 miles of paved trails throughout Gulf State Park and connecting to Orange Beach.
“Extending the Fort Morgan Trail is a win for residents and visitors alike,” said state Sen. Chris Elliott. “Trails like this draw tourists to our coast, support local businesses and give our families a safe, beautiful place to be outside together. It’s always good to offer more outdoor recreational facilities along our beautiful Gulf Coast.”
The $5.6 million project was funded by the federal RESTORE Act, which uses civil and administrative penalties paid under the Clean Water Act by companies responsible for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Under the Act, the funding supports programs, projects and activities designed to restore and protect the environment and economy of the Gulf Coast region.
And already many have started taking advantage of the new area!

Bay Minette, Ala. One person has been arrested by a special unit of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation of animal abuse and cruelty at a residence.
Deputies with the Rural Enforcement responded to a report about the welfare of animals at the property of Jessica Phillips on Monday and observed a deceased dog inside a chain-link kennel. Fifteen additional dogs were also found on the property, with most confined among two other kennels, the BCSO said.
The deputies also found that several of the dogs housed in the kennels were found to be severely malnourished, and they also observed that the animals did not have food or access to clean drinking water at the time of the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies have arrested Phillips and charged her with aggravated animal cruelty.
Officials said all surviving dogs, along with a cat found on the property, were taken into custody by Baldwin County Animal Control. The animals were provided with care, including veterinary evaluation and treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as warranted, the sheriff’s office said.

GULF SHORES, Ala. With nationwide push back and protests over the use of Flock, Automated License Plate Reader camera, a Baldwin County police chief is stepping forward saying that the cameras work but that more transparency is needed.
Police Chief Dan Netemeyer says the technology has helped them solve a multitude of crimes. He said that the city has over 80 Flock cameras and they have been extremely valuable. The city council approved a contract with Flock in September 2025. They were installed in the spring.
The Chief said that despite the flaws, and certain problems and that this technology works well in aiding in speedy arrests, information, searches for suspects and that license plate readers have been around for years. Cameras were placed throughout the city from parks to the beaches. As a destination city, Netemeyer adds it’s a critical tool that has helped the department.
“And all of a sudden, recently, it’s been an issue. And this issue is coming from misinformation that’s being put out there with regard to these cameras. I encourage everybody to do their own research. Make sure it’s factual.”
Netemeyer says a transparency portal will be launched in the coming weeks. This will allow residents to see how the cameras are used.
The Chief made it clear, “We are not hiding anything. These cameras are in public place,” Netemeyer said. “They are taking a snapshot of a vehicle and a license plate. They’re not going into people’s homes, not tracking inside people’s homes. They’re not following people around. They are fixed objects that are tracking the street to which they are reading plates and getting descriptions of vehicles. no different than a police officer sitting there with a car camera on, filming every car that drives by.”
Nationwide, Automatic License Plate Reader Cameras are responsible for the recovery of thousands of missing and kidnapped children, tens of thousands of violent felons and fugitives, the recovery of thousands of stolen vehicles and aid in high profile cases across the country.
Although Flock is often mentioned in the media, there are many other brands and manufacturers of the Automatic License Plate Readers. Flock is a brand, not the technology.
The contract is renewable every year for the city. The city would need to vote on it again once the city votes to approve the budget.

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. A new countywide emergency alert system is now active and available to alert residents to area emergencies including tornados, wildfires, hurricanes, flooding and other potential disasters.
Baldwin County Emergency Management Director Tom Tyler said that prior to this, not everyone in our area had that capability although there was an alert system in place.
“We also have a system called Alert Baldwin where people can opt in to receive emergency alerts for anything going on inside of Baldwin County, whether it be weather-related, accident-related, a technological disaster, anything that would not be triggered by the weather service,” said Tyler.
“If you are getting this on your phone, it is necessary to save lives,” added Tyler.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey recently stated that after the Camp Mystic floods in Texas last year, where people lost their lives, it became a priority for her.
A similar alert system is now available throughout Alabama. After the Camp Mystic floods in Texas last year, it became a priority for Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.
Tyler said that it’s important for people to receive the earliest warnings possible so that they can be prepared and when necessary, evacuate from the area.
Most recently, Baldwin County EMA sent an alert about the heavy surf generated by Tropical Storm Bertha. A message went to phones along Fort Morgan to stay out of the water for their own safety.
“The important thing is now every county has the capability to do that,” said Tyler.

According to court documents, Gregory Andersen pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to theft of government money, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. According to his written plea agreement, he worked as the office manager for a soil testing company in Robertsdale from 2020 until the business discovered financial discrepancies in 2023.
Andersen admitted in federal court Tuesday that he also lied about having an inoperable brain tumor when questioned about the missing money.
According to law enforcement, they were notified of the internal thefts and while investigating also found that Andersen had been receiving disability benefits without reporting his income. Investigators determined that the Social Security Administration overpaid him $61,609 from December 2020 and September 2023.

BOSTON, MA. A press release issued through the offices of U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated that they have arrested 11 cruise ship crew members in Boston for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
During a targeted investigation between Boston, Florida and the West Coast, Customs and Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations agents made arrests between August 14-26, 2026.
According to the release, arrests were made in Fort Lauderdale on the cruise ships Volendam and Norwegian Breakaway.
The agents searched the living quarters and devices of each crew member, CBP said.
The search and arrests were part of CBP and Homeland Security’s joint “Operation Tidal Wave,” which aims to identify cruise ship crew members who possess, use, procure, produce, or distribute child sexual abuse and exploitation material. In April, 27 crew members were arrested from six ships in San Diego, and in June and on July, 14 were arrested from three ships in San Juan, officials said.
Among those arrested in Boston, nine are citizens of the Philippines, one of Indonesia, and one of Nicaragua. All 11 are scheduled to leave the United States, CBP said.
“Protecting children from exploitation is among our highest priorities, and this operation demonstrates the critical role [Customs and Border Protection] officers play in identifying and stopping individuals who pose a threat to public safety,” said Julio Caravia, acting director of field operations for CBP’s Boston Field Office.

MOBILE, Ala. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside federal law enforcement partners as part of the Gulf of America Task Force, arrested two suspects and seized significant quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and firearms during a multi-stage narcotics operation conducted August 25, 2026.
The Gulf of America Task Force includes members of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Vice Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI, ATF and DEA.
The investigation developed over several days as MCSO Narcotics and Vice investigators and Homeland Security Investigations conducted undercover surveillance into a suspected drug trafficking organization operating in Mobile County.
Investigators identified Dramico Monte Bailey Jr., DOB: 01/16/1997, as a primary suspect believed to be involved in transporting and distributing large quantities of narcotics from South Florida into Mobile County.
Investigators believe Bailey was working with multiple co-conspirators. Their identities are being withheld at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on August 25, undercover narcotics investigators observed Bailey meet with Kashunte Quintrell Tate, DOB: 03/12/1998, in a business parking lot near Silver Pine Road and Schillinger Road in Semmes. Investigators observed what they believed to be a narcotics transaction between the two men.
After leaving the location in a black Honda Accord, Tate fled when MCSO patrol deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Tate allegedly reached speeds in excess of 100 mph during the pursuit, creating a significant danger to other motorists.
Deputies ultimately conducted a vehicle intervention that ended the pursuit without injury to civilians. Following Tate’s arrest, investigators determined that a quantity of suspected illegal pills allegedly purchased during the earlier transaction had been intentionally destroyed.
Tate was transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail and charged with Felony Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement. Additional charges are pending.
Following Tate’s arrest, members of the Gulf of America Task Force moved to take Bailey into custody near Jeff Hamilton Road and McFarland Road.
During the operation, Bailey allegedly rammed multiple MCSO vehicles in an attempt to escape, resulting in a second pursuit. Deputies ultimately stopped Bailey near Airport Boulevard and I-65 Service Road North.
During a search of Bailey’s vehicle, investigators located approximately four pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
Following Bailey’s arrest, MCSO Narcotics and Vice investigators executed multiple search warrants at locations associated with Bailey, including his residence.
In total, investigators seized approximately:
Five pounds of suspected methamphetamine
One kilogram of suspected powder cocaine
21 grams of suspected powdered fentanyl
10 firearms, including three semi-automatic rifles and seven handguns
Bailey was arrested on multiple felony charges, including:
Trafficking narcotics
Felony Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person
Reckless Endangerment
Resisting Arrest
Criminal Mischief First Degree
Additional state charges are expected, and investigators are working with federal partners
regarding potential federal charges and indictments.
“This operation is an example of exactly why these partnerships matter,” Sheriff Paul Burch said.
“Drug trafficking does not stop at a city, county or state line, and neither can law enforcement.
These investigators followed this organization, identified the people involved and took a significant amount of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and firearms off the streets of Mobile County. When someone brings this level of narcotics into our community and then puts innocent motorists and our deputies in danger trying to escape, we are going to use every resource available to hold them accountable.
The investigation remains active, and additional arrests and charges are possible
