UPDATE: Mother and Child Dies After Train Collides With Vehicle Near Bellingrath

UPDATE:
MOBILE, AL. On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at approximately 6:51 a.m., Mobile Police and Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to a traffic accident in the area of Cary Hamilton Road at the railroad crossing.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that an Amtrak train struck a vehicle.
The driver, Brittany Williams, 31, and her 8-year-old daughter were pronounced deceased on scene.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the audible signal, flashing lights and crossing arms were functioning properly at the time of impact. The train traveled approximately 2100 feet after impact before it was able to stop. No passengers aboard the train were injured.

Crews with Mobile Fire Rescue and Mobile police are currently working an accident involving a train hitting a car.
Officials with MPD have reported multiple fatalities after a train hit a car on Bellingrath Road near Peary Road.
This is currently an ongoing investigation at the scene.
The roadway at the scene of the crash is closed.
