BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. A Belforest Elementary School assistant principal who was arrested for DUI during a traffic stop in Daphne in November 2025, has pleaded guilty in court this week.
Melissa Spriggs was charged with her second DUI during the incident.
Spriggs will be on probation for the next two years after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and she will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
In addition, she will have to use an interlock device on her vehicle that tests breath samples for any alcohol before allowing the vehicle to start.
Not having the device on any vehicle that she drives is an arrestable misdemeanor offense.
Spriggs was previously arrested for DUI in 2024 and was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and ordered to take classes.
The school system placed Spriggs on administrative leave at the time of her second arrest, but she has since been reinstated.
Springs will not serve any jail time and her driver’s license was not suspended according to public records.
