ALEA Trooper Finds Driver Impaired From Controlled Substance

BALDWIN COUNTY, AL. While on patrol on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, an ALEA trooper noticed a driver committing a traffic infraction during the evening hours and activated his emergency lights and sirens to stop the driver.
Elijah Markeel Simmons, 37, the person behind the wheel pulled his vehicle to the right shoulder of the road.
During the interaction between the trooper and Simmons, the trooper suspected that Simmons was impaired, and after completing an investigation, he determined that the driver was impaired and under the influence of narcotics.
Simmons was arrested for driving under the influence of controlled substances.
