ALEA Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Wreck in Baldwin County

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. A woman has died in a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 11 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2025, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The Semmes woman has been identified as Devi V. Weems, 62, and troopers said that she was fatally injured after being struck by the 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by William G. Wilson, 60, of Citronelle.
Authorities said that the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama 217 near the 14-mile marker, approximately five miles north of Semmes, in Baldwin County.
ALEA said that Wilson left the scene of the crash but he was located a short time later with the assistance of the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
Wilson was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana Second Degree.
On July 5, Wilson was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail with a $33,250 bond.
