ALEA Investigating Fatal I-65 Motor Vehicle Collision

ESCAMBIA, Ala. Troopers are investigating a fatal car crash involving two vehicles.
State troopers, fire personnel and EMS responded at approximately 6 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026, to a wreck that has claimed the life of a Carriere, Miss., man. Brandon G. Wascom, 46, who was fatally injured when the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving struck the rear of the 2001 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Jaron K. Bush, 34, of Mobile.
After the initial impact, the Chevrolet caught fire.
Wascom was critically injured and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 73-mile marker, approximately 18 miles north of Flomaton, in Escambia County.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
