Alabama Prison Security Guard Arrested For Drug Trafficking

A security guard who works at an Alabama prison is facing multiple charges after an Alabama Department of Corrections K-9 officer discovered an attempt to bring contraband inside the facility, according to Alabama Department of Corrections.
Correctional Security Guard Arianna Slater is charged with promoting prison contraband, possession of marijuana and drug trafficking.
Employees at Ventress Correctional Facility, located in Barbour County, were following a routine drug screening when contraband was found in a food container belonging to Slater, authorities said.
The contraband included:
13 grams of marijuana
46 grams of fentanyl
Cell phones, charging blocks and USB cords
After Slater was detained for questioning, a search was conducted on her vehicle. Investigators did not disclose whether they recovered any evidence in the vehicle.
Slater was transported to the Barbour County Jail where she is awaiting a court hearing.
An investigation by ADOC’s Law Enforcement Services Division, or LESD, is ongoing. Additional charges may be pending.
