An Alabama man on the run from law enforcement and wanted for a 2020 murder was apprehended Friday in the parking lot of an Ohio hospital.
Frank Cortez McQueen, 45, from Evergreen, and been accused of shooting a man on November 16, 2020, and four other individuals have already been taken into custody and charged in the same murder.
Police reported that officers made the arrest close to Grady Memorial Hospital, and according to jail records, he is currently being held at the Delaware County Jail. He is being held without a bond and is waiting to be extradited back to Alabama.
McQueen has been charged, along with the other four other individuals, in connection with the tragic death of 26-year-old Micah Spencer “Mike” Coon.
Brittany Head, a 26-year-old woman, was found guilty in August of a lesser charge of felony murder, and she has been given a life sentence behind bars.
Dontavious Powell, who is now 26 years old, made a guilty plea in 2023 for the charge of felony murder. As a result, he was handed a prison sentence of nine years, with three years of that time to be served.
Next week, Tyquise Jamal Jenkins, 26, and Courtney Lee Porter, 33, will be facing trial.
McQueen, who was initially arrested in 2021 but fled the state.
According to authorities, the group of suspects went to Coon’s home following an altercation between Coon and Jenkins outside an Andalusia package store. Jenkins and Head were married.
Following the altercation, it is said that Powell, Porter, and McQueen were enlisted to seek revenge by visiting Coon’s residence.
Coon’s fiancé and their three children sought refuge in a back bedroom as the murder unfolded, while Coon herself dialed 911.
During Head’s trial, the Andalusia Star reported that Coon’s graphic 911 phone call was played, where listeners in the courtroom heard him pleading with the defendants to stop the home invasion by saying, “My kids are in here.”
During the trial, the retired 911 operator, who had taken the call, provided testimony stating that she heard Micah speaking about his children before hearing what she believed to be a gunshot and Micah’s screams of pain.
According to authorities, when officers arrived, they discovered Coon’s front teeth were knocked out, he had a black eye, and he had been wounded in the stomach with a firearm.
