Serious Assault Reported at Thomas Hospital

FAIRHOPE Ala. Fairhope police officers responded to Thomas Hospital located at 750 Morphy Avenue in Fairhope on Friday, May 9th, 2025, for a report of an assault.
Police investigated an incident that involved serious bodily injury and have classified the assault as an Assault in the Second Degree.
In Alabama, second-degree assault is defined under Ala. Code 13A-6-21. A person commits this crime if they intentionally or recklessly cause serious physical injury to another person, often involving the use of a deadly weapon or conduct that shows extreme indifference to human life.
A second-degree assault in Alabama is a Class C felony. The range of punishments includes imprisonment from between one year and a day up to 10 years and/or a monetary fine of up to $15,000.
At this time, the Fairhope police are not identifying if the victim was a staff member, patient, or visitor, nor what happened.
