Birmingham Police Make 100 Arrests in Crime Reduction Effort

The Birmingham Police Department’s Special Operations Bureau continues to make strides in its ongoing crime reduction efforts, arresting 100 individuals between April 14 and April 20, 2025.
This initiative is part of Chief Pickett’s eight-point Comprehensive Crime Reduction Strategy aimed at enhancing public safety across the city.
During this period, the Special Enforcement Division reported 42 felony arrests and 58 misdemeanor arrests. Officers conducted 212 traffic stops and issued 418 citations, including 49 for speeding. The division also seized 15 firearms, three of which were stolen and one altered, and impounded 16 vehicles, including three that were stolen and subsequently recovered.
In addition to these enforcement actions, the division confiscated a substantial amount of narcotics. The seizures included 189 ounces of promethazine/codeine, 11,320.74 grams of marijuana, 3.1 grams of crystal meth, 2.5 grams of suboxone, 38.0 grams of anabolic steroids, 20,000 grams of cocaine, and 1.0 gram of crack cocaine. Other drugs seized included 59.1 grams of moon rocks, 8.0 grams of hydrocodone, 1.5 grams of amphetamine, 32.6 grams of methamphetamine, 1.0 gram of oxycodone, 0.4 grams of liquid THC, and 3.0 grams of MDMA. Authorities also seized $1,282 in currency.
The Birmingham Police Department’s efforts reflect a continued commitment to reducing crime and ensuring the safety of the community.
