Fairhope Police Charge Man With a Felony After He Threatened to Shoot Store Employees

FAIRHOPE, Ala. A man who threatened to shoot several stores employees over the phone has been arrested and charged with a felony.

Fairhope police were notified of the threats and conducted an investigation and determined that 47-year-old Christopher Allen Bentley of Summerdale, called the business and threatened to shoot everyone inside.

Fairhope Police located Bentley and charged him with Terroristic Threats, a felony.

Making a terrorist threat in Alabama is divided into two degrees under Alabama Code § 13A-10-241 and § 13A-10-242, with first-degree offenses classified as a Class B felony following the enactment of House Bill 7 on July 1, 2026.

Bentley is currently being held at the Baldwin County Detention Center.
