Huge Drug Bust in Mobile Nets Over 1.6 Million in Drugs and Cash

MOBILE, AL. At the heels of a large-scale drug and gun operation called Take Back 90 where dozens of arrests were made and drugs seized, came a surprisingly larger bust that was worth more than a million dollars.
After receiving information about a bigger drug operation, the Mobile Police Department SWAT and Narcotics Unit conducted a search warrant at a home in Tillman’s Corner and when officers entered, they really got a big surprise.
They found the home to be packed with drugs and cash, worth more than a million dollars.
When police entered the home on Branford Court, they were not expecting an operation as large as what they found.
“We kind of expected this one to be big based on the investigation that led us here,” MPD Captain Matthew James said. But we didn’t really think it would be as big as it was.
SWAT got everyone out of the house and a drone was sent in to scout out the place before officers entered.
The drone flew in and out of each room, blowing cash around as SWAT officers monitored all via the drone’s screen.
Police said that they were able to confiscate about 70-80 pounds of marijuana in the house and about a hundred thousand dollars in cash.
Officers arrested Terry Pettway on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, as he was on his way to the gym.
A further search of the house found approximately 180 pounds of marijuana,” said Captain James.
Police found large cardboard boxes packed full of vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana.
He had 177 individually packed one-pound bags of marijuana, James said after all the weed had been counted.
According to Mobile Police, that equals a street value of $1,632,610.
But marijuana wasn’t the only drug found in the home.
Six bottles of promethazine and codeine syrup were confiscated.
Police also found bags of cash.
Between the stacks of cash in the bag, the loose bills scattering the home, the cash inside the wallet, and random money found in shoe boxes, the total amount came to $221,013.
Captain James said the drug bust was the largest one so far in his career.
