Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Double Shooting in Semmes

SEMMES, AL. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left two men critically injured Sunday night in Semmes.
On September 27, 2026, at approximately 10:04 p.m., MCSO deputies responded to the 6000 block of Cynthia Drive regarding a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
When deputies arrived, they located James Agee, 24, in the roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and extremities.
Deputies immediately secured the residence and located Christopher Shires, 48, on the rear porch suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Medical personnel responded and transported both men to USA Health University Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
MCSO Investigators recovered several firearms from the property, including a shotgun, rifle and two handguns. Multiple spent shell casings and unfired cartridges were also recovered.
Based on evidence collected at the scene, witness statements and the preliminary investigation, investigators believe Shires shot James Agee before turning a firearm on himself.
Agee underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition. Shires also remains in critical condition.
Investigators are working to preserve and review available residential security camera footage as part of the ongoing investigation.
