CBP and HSI Make Child Porn Arrests on Cruise Ships

BOSTON, MA. A press release issued through the offices of U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated that they have arrested 11 cruise ship crew members in Boston for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
During a targeted investigation between Boston, Florida and the West Coast, Customs and Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations agents made arrests between August 14-26, 2026.
According to the release, arrests were made in Fort Lauderdale on the cruise ships Volendam and Norwegian Breakaway.
The agents searched the living quarters and devices of each crew member, CBP said.
The search and arrests were part of CBP and Homeland Security’s joint “Operation Tidal Wave,” which aims to identify cruise ship crew members who possess, use, procure, produce, or distribute child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
In April, 27 crew members were arrested from six ships in San Diego, and in June and on July, 14 were arrested from three ships in San Juan, officials said.
Among those arrested in Boston, nine are citizens of the Philippines, one of Indonesia, and one of Nicaragua. All 11 are scheduled to leave the United States, CBP said.
“Protecting children from exploitation is among our highest priorities, and this operation demonstrates the critical role [Customs and Border Protection] officers play in identifying and stopping individuals who pose a threat to public safety,” said Julio Caravia, acting director of field operations for CBP’s Boston Field Office.
