Person Charged With Possessing Drugs During Daphne Court Session

DAPHNE, Ala. Officers working court security on August 18, 2026, observed a man in the parking lot sitting in a vehicle smoking marijuana at around 5:20 p.m.
Officers approached the person identified as 30-year-old Cody Cordell Hicks, of Bay Minette and during a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia beside a car seat.
Meanwhile, the vehicle owner, 25-year-old Autumn Rose Barker, was inside attending court with her 3-year-old child.
When police questioned Barker, she smelled strongly of marijuana. She was also found to have methamphetamine in her purse and acknowledged that she also transported the drugs in the car near her child.
Hicks was arrested for felony Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Barker was arrested for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, felony Chemical Endangerment of a Child, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both were transferred to the custody of Baldwin County Corrections.
According to police the child was released to an uninvolved family member, and a report has been forwarded to the Alabama Department of Human Services.
