Body of Fisherman Found Near Dauphin Island

DAUPHIN ISLAND, AL The body of a missing man who had been fishing off the Cedar Point Pier has been found near the coast of Dauphin Island.
20-year-old CJ Pitts was found 50 yards from Dauphin Island’s west end beach Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
Several people including officers with the Dauphin Island police department attempted to rescue him at the time that he fell into the water on Thursday, but he went under the water, and the current carried him away
Pitts fell into the water early Thursday, April 30th, 2026, near Cedar Point Pier, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
“On behalf of The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the agencies and volunteers who participated in this search operation. Your dedication and tireless efforts during this difficult time have been deeply appreciated,” said Sheriff Paul Burch in a news release.
