Police Arrest Mobile Man After a Shooting at Subway

MOBILE, AL. A shooting victim has been hospitalized, and the shooter is in custody according to Mobile Police.
Police said that on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers responded to the Subway, located at 3067 Dauphin Street, in reference to a shooting and found an adult male victim suffering from multiple, severe gunshot wounds.
Mobile Fire Rescue responded to the scene and the wounded person was transported to an area hospital.
Mobile police said that the shooter, later identified as Markeas Bernard, 31, remained at the scene and after an investigation was arrested and he was transported to Metro Jail.
Bernard was charged with a felony, 1st Degree Assault.
