MOBILE, AL. A B.C. Rain teacher who has been previously arrested for having sex with a student, has pled guilty to the charge.
After acknowledging his guilt, Charles Crawford Jr was taken into custody and taken to the Mobile Metro Jail.
The 27-year-old former math teacher was ordered to turn himself in to start his one-year sentence.
The case stems from an incident in March of 2024, when Mobile police responded to B.C. Rain after receiving a report of an inappropriate relationship between a student and an employee.
It was then that police arrested Crawford after their investigation.
At the time of his arrest, he was charged with school employee engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19.
Last year, Crawford’s attorney Marcus Foxx waived the preliminary hearing, and the case was sent to a grand jury. After the grand jury indicted him, he pleaded not guilty but recently chose to take a plea.
Court records show he waived his right to a jury trial and entered a guilty plea on Feb. 23.
Once Crawford is released, if he violates his probation, or contacts the victim, he will have to serve 14 years in the state penitentiary. He is also required to pay a victim compensation assessment.
