Speeding Driver Leads BCSO Deputies on Pursuit

LOXLEY, Ala. A pursuit in the early morning hours of Wednesday morning, has led to the arrest of the driver after he was involved in a motor vehicle collision.

Baldwin County Deputy Sheriffs attempted to stop the driver, later identified as Steven Cole Smith, for a speeding infraction, but after a deputy activated his blue lights and sirens, Smith accelerated and led law enforcement down Buc’ee’s Boulevard and County Road 68 before he crashed.

Smith was taken into custody, and local firefighters and EMS were dispatched to the scene to check on Smith before he was transported to the Baldwin County Detention Center.

As of this morning, Smith was being held on a $30,000 bond.
