GULF SHORES, Ala. The Gulf Shores City Council has approved a one-year extension of the contract with Hangout Music Fest, LLC.
The festival, “Sand in My Boots”, will take place from May 14 to 17, 2026.
The council unanimously approved an amendment to the original agreement, ensuring the city council will have final approval of the genre of music and the festival name.
A few changes are also coming to the upcoming music festival, including that residents will receive free parking at the Gulf State Park during the time the festival will impact on public beach access, and city leaders said that other changes are being discussed.
Following the 2026 festival, parties may agree to an additional one-year extension with the same terms. If that happens, the festival will be held from May 20 to 23, 2027.
“The Parties agree that this Amendment is intended to provide an interim solution allowing the Franchisee to plan the 2026 and 2027 Music Fests,” the amendment reads. “The parties commit to good faith negotiation of a separate long-term franchise agreement that will commence upon the expiration of this Agreement.”
The festival franchise first agreement with Gulf Shores was made in 2015 to bring the Hangout Music Festival. In 2025, the festival was changed to the Sand in My Boots Festival.
City officials said more aspects of the festival will continue to be discussed before signing another long-term agreement.
