15 Acre Fire Burns For Hours in Gateswood Community

A fire burned at least 15 acres Thursday afternoon in the Gateswood Community and for more than an hour all that firefighters could do was watch it.
The fire off Allen Road was on private property and water is hard to come by in this remote area of Baldwin County making it difficult to fight fires said Styx River Fire Chief Kenneth Dunbar.
Multiple fire department departments were called to the area to assist and several tanker trucks and brush trucks were also brought in to get the fire under control.
Eventually, the Alabama Forestry Commission had to be called in to help with putting in a fireline to slow down and control the fire.
In the past seventy-two hours, there have been more than a dozen brush or wood fires in Baldwin County.
