A shoplifting at a local grocery store quickly went from bad to worse when the man decided to assault a store employee during his escape, changing the charges from theft to robbery.
On Monday, January 13, 2025, at approximately 8:42 p.m., officers responded to 5827 Highway 90, a Winn Dixie grocery store, because a person had walked out the store with groceries that he had not paid for and when confronted by an employee, he pushed the employee to the ground while fleeing the store.
Police arrived at the store and searched the area but could not locate the person in question at that time, however, Mobile police determined that the crime was a felony robbery and kept searching for the suspect.
Through the course of the investigation, officers identified and located the subject and on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Victor Tarrance, 44 years old was arrested and charged with 3rd degree robbery and transported to Metro Jail where he is being held.
