MOBILE, Ala.  Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Mobile  including Baldwin and Mobile County schools will begin implementing a clear bag policy at sporting events beginning with the new school year.

According to the information released, this move is intended to provide further security and ensure public safety at all sporting events.

We are implementing a proactive step and not in response to any incident, according to officials.

Under the new rule, all bags brought into a stadium or gym must be clear, although there are no size restrictions.

There are three Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Mobile – McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope and Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School in Montgomery.

Along with the new clear bag policy, there will be no re-admittance to Catholic high school sporting events and no admittance once the third quarter begins.

Officials said the policies echo those in wide use across the country.

Mobile County, Baldwin County, and Montgomery County public schools are among those that have or will implement a clear bag policy this year, the Archdiocese of Mobile stated in its announcement.
