Pilot Injured After Small Plane Crashes in Summerdale

SUMMERDALE, Ala. A call to the Baldwin County 911 Communications Center reported that a plane had just crashed in Summerdale Thursday afternoon.
Summerdale police and fire departments, as well as EMS were dispatched to the area of Sanborne Road.
According to law enforcement, the pilot of the 1948 Cessna 170 was trying to take off but was unable to gain enough speed and overshot the end of a private runway on Sanborne Road in Summerdale. The plane then hit a dip in the field and flipped over.
The pilot, who was not identified by authorities, suffered minor injuries.
A passenger on board the plane was uninjured, authorities said.
There was no other property damage reported.
