Person Commits Suicide at Fairhope Pier

FAIRHOPE, Ala. On Saturday afternoon, the Fairhope police were notified that a person had been shot at the Fairhope pier.

Fire responders, including the Fairhope Fire Department and EMS, responded to the scene along with officers from the Fairhope Police Department.

Upon investigation, the Fairhope Police determined that the individual had a self-inflicted gunshot wound and classified the death as a suicide.

During the investigation, parts of the area were shut down to the public.

Police determined that there was no threat to the public.

The person has been identified by police, but their name has not been released publicly.
