Foley Mailman Arrested For Mail Theft in Several Areas of Baldwin County

GULF SHORES, Ala. A 29-year-old postal worker has been accused of stealing mail from around 72 residences in Gulf Shores.
A coordinated investigation involving the Gulf Shores Police Department, Foley Police Department, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service has resulted in the arrest of a Foley man accused of stealing mail from dozens of Baldwin County residents.
On Nov. 17, 2025, inspectors from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service contacted the Criminal Investigations Division of the Gulf Shores Police Department regarding stolen U.S. mail.
Detectives from Gulf Shores and the Foley Police Department, working alongside postal inspectors, launched a joint effort to locate the stolen mail and identify those responsible.

Detectives from the Foley and Gulf Shores Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in Foley, where additional stolen mail was found.
Bryant Douglas Nugent, 29, of Foley, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony mail theft.
Under Alabama’s new mail theft law, which took effect Oct. 1, the law classifies mail theft as either a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the number of addresses affected.
Detectives identified approximately 72 residences impacted by the theft, mostly in the West Fort Morgan area of Gulf Shores. The U.S. Postal Service has notified those affected.
