SPANISH FORT, Ala. When you bring senseless gun violence to our side of the bay, we will use the long arm of the law to put you in jail!” – Chief John Barber
The investigation of the shooting incident that occurred at Eastern Shore Lanes on October 3rd, 2026, has revealed that Gregory McDonald (22yo, Semmes) and Jamarcus Grayson (24yo, Mobile) engaged in a physical altercation inside the bowling alley.
During the fight, a pistol carried by Grayson fell on the ground. Jamarcus Grayson recovered the weapon and ran to the parking lot. Gregory McDonald retrieved his pistol and pursued Grayson outside where he fired numerous rounds at him, striking two uninvolved vehicles. Jamarcus Grayson returned fire and struck McDonald once, before leaving the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
The investigation revealed the Jamarcus Grayson’s actions rose to the level of self-defense; however, he entered the bowling alley armed with a pistol while under indictment awaiting trial for two counts of Assault 1st Degree and one count of Assault 2nd Degree.
Therefore, an arrest warrant for Certain Persons Forbidden to Carry a Weapon was signed, and Grayson was arrested by The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on October 14th.
Grayson was also in possession of another pistol at the time of his arrest and was charged again with a separate count of Carrying a firearm by a Certain Person Forbidden. He is now being held without bond!
“I am thankful the state legislature passed an amendment to the Certain Persons Forbidden Law that went into effect October 1, 2025, to include prohibiting individuals awaiting trial for violent offenses from carrying a weapon. We see all too often as they await trial, some individuals continue to engage in violent behavior, putting more lives at risk. This is a great tool for law enforcement to keep our communities safer.” – Chief John Barber
Gregory McDonald was arrested on Wednesday, October 21st at the Spanish Fort Police Department, for two counts of Shooting into Unoccupied Vehicles, Reckless Endangerment, and a Violation of Probation warrant out of Mobile County.
“I want to thank TEAM SHERIFF (Mobile County Sherriff’s Department) and Mobile Police Department for their help in apprehending both subjects. You cannot engage in a shootout at an entertainment venue in our city and not expect to see handcuffs in your future” – Chief John Barber said.
