MOBILE, AL. Dogs roaming at large continue to be an issue in our cities and in parts of our rural areas as well.
In recent months, at least four people have been attacked and injured and needing medical care.
Now, another woman is telling her story of how she too was attacked by roaming dogs and had to be hospitalized after the attack.
Billie Dunn, a senior citizen, suffered more than just severe bruises and wounds on her legs. She has seven holes in her legs where the dogs chomped down and held on.
Billie Dunn said she was taking her morning walk on Wenonah Drive on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when she noticed two dogs charging at her.
It was almost 7 a.m. when the dogs came charging at her out of nowhere and she immediately felt pain. She said that she was screaming for help as she tried to fight them off.
Dunn said she wants pet owners to take responsibility for their animals.
“I want people to be responsible for their dogs,” Dunn said. “I want people to know where their dogs are.”
Local authorities have been notified and there are city ordinances and state statutes that could hold the owner legally responsible for their digs roaming at large.
In many incidents where a person has been injured by dogs roaming at large, the victim has taken their owners to civil court.
Dunn is undergoing physical therapy and said she hopes to return home Friday if all goes well.
