Lillian Home Destroyed in Massive Fire

LILLIAN, Ala. Firefighters were called to a structure fire Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2026, at approximately 3:25 p.m.
First arriving fire personnel reported smoke and fire showing in a heavily involved home and multiple fire departments were dispatched to Bay View Drive.
Firefighters and neighbors also reported explosions coming from the structure.
Lillian, Elberta, Perdido Beach and Escambia County Fire Departments responded to the fire and tankers were brought in to supply water because of the lack of fire hydrants in that area.
Heavy fire engulfed the structure and destroyed the home and at least one vehicle.
The state fire marshal’s office also responded to the home to determine the cause of the fire.
A Medstar ambulance was also called to the scene for a standby.
During the hours preceding after the fire, the Lillian fire department was called back to the home at least twice for reports of the fire rekindling and firefighters put out several hot spots.
At this time there has been no reports of any injuries to residents or firefighters.
