Pedestrian Struck and Killed-Second Person in Critical Condition

MOBILE, AL. The Mobile police and fire department responded to a serious traffic collision on Friday, September 4, 2026, at around 9:29 p.m. in the area of I-65 NB off ramp and Springhill Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim deceased and a second male victim with life-threatening injuries.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered a vehicle exiting from I-65 NB to Springhill Avenue struck the victims who were walking in the roadway.
Mobile police conducted a traffic investigation and identified the deceased victim as Thomas Purifoy, 63.
The second victim’s identity has not been released as of yet.
The driver of the vehicle has been cooperating with officers.
This remains an active investigation.
