Car Crashes Through Front of Mobile Store-Sounds Like Explosion

MOBILE, AL. A Thursday afternoon motor vehicle collision sounded more like an explosion said one customer who was inside the Cato clothing store when a vehicle suddenly crashed through the front of the building, leaving the front of the store destroyed and employees and shoppers in shock.
At around 4:30 p.m. 911 callers reported to the Mobile County 911 Communications Center that a car was inside the store on Halls Mill Road and the driver was hurt.
The Mobile police, fire department and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene at the Cloverleaf Plaza.
People outside were also screaming and it was very chaotic, said Sherell who was shopping nearby.
When police arrived, officers determined that an elderly woman was behind the wheel and EMS attended to her immediately.
I think she might have thought she hit the brake and didn’t hit the brake to get the gas,” said a witness.
According to the fire department, there were no serious injuries.
Mobile police are investigating the crash.
