Spanish Fort History Teacher Dies in Saraland Traffic Collision

SARALAND, Ala. Authorities have identified a man that died in a Saraland motor vehicle collision that happened on June 30th, 2026.
Spanish Fort Middle School teacher Devery Jenkins was killed during a four-vehicle crash involving two 18-wheelers on Highway 158 between Kali Oka Road and Shelton Beach Road.
Jenkins was an eighth-grade history teacher and school administrators, Jenkins was “a steady presence, a compassionate heart, and a source of encouragement” for everyone who knew him.
Co-workers and students sadly recalled the times that they saw him as a leader and a friend.
To his students, Jenkins was someone who believed in them and celebrated their successes, according to administrators.
To his coworkers, he was considered “the kind of teammate everyone wanted to work alongside.”
Many say that it’s so hard to believe that he won’t be walking through the school doors again.
Jenkins’ service will be held on Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Destiny Church in Daphne at 2:30 p.m.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with upcoming funeral costs and emotional challenges.
