BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. A driver heading down Interstate 10 on Monday morning, June 1st, 2026, driving toward Florida noticed a vehicle on the side of the road, and outside of the vehicle lying on the highway, there was a person.
The driver called 911 and told a Baldwin County Communications Center dispatcher that the person was not moving and looked to be in distress.
The Styx River Volunteer Fire Department, Medstar and law enforcement were immediately dispatched to the area near mile marker 52 where firefighters found a man unconscious and possibly having a heart attack and in need of immediate care. Firefighters swiftly began rendering aid.
That person was transported by ambulance to area hospital.
Had the good Samaritan not been observant or just decided to continue his driving without calling 911, the person may not have had a chance of survival.
