BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has announced the opening of shrimp season here along Alabama’s Gulf Coast.
Alabama’s commercial and recreational shrimping season in state waters officially begins today, Monday, June 1.
According to the agency, all inside waters not permanently closed by law or regulation opened for shrimp harvesting beginning at 6 a.m.
The seasonal opening includes several popular coastal waterways and bays, including Mobile Bay, Bon Secour Bay, Mississippi Sound, Perdido Bay, Arnica Bay, Wolf Bay, and Little Lagoon.
The opening marks the beginning of one of Alabama’s longstanding Gulf Coast traditions, supporting both the seafood industry and recreational shrimpers during the summer months.
