FORT MORGAN, Ala.
A fishing trip into the Gulf waters on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, ended with two passengers on board being injured.
From the information that we received at the Fort Morgan Marina, a boat, believed to be a charter with numerous people aboard, was hit by a large wave and at least two people were thrown to the deck and injured.
The U.S. Coast Guard and other emergency services were notified.
While emergency services monitored marine radio communications, the boat made its way into the Fort Morgan Marina several hours later, arriving at around 5:00 p.m. where the Fort Morgan Fire Department and several ambulances were waiting.
EMS transported the injured to an area hospital.
The US Coast guard told me that when an emergency call comes into their center, the on duty personnel assess the distance, travel time, and weather to determine if it is feasible to dispatch a rescue helicopter or to meet the vessel further into shore.
