Fairhope Police Recover Possible Missing Person in a Pond

FAIRHOPE, Ala. A missing person investigation has turned into a body recovery in Fairhope on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Fairhope police had been notified Sunday that a person driving a vehicle had gone missing from a community off State Highway 181and had taken a report and begun an investigation.
Further information led officers back to the subdivision off from State Highway 181 where evidence led to the possibility that a vehicle was in a pond on the Falling Waters Boulevard and police called in a dive team.
The Fairhope Fire Department and an ambulance also responded to the scene.
An underwater recovery team responded and confirmed the presence of a vehicle with an occupant.
Police worked for several hours removing the vehicle from the pond and removed the body of one person from the vehicle.
Police believe the person to be the missing 75-year-old man.
The Baldwin County Coroner’s Office also responded.
At this time, police have not released the name of the person.
The investigation is ongoing.
