3 Plane Crashes in One Week, 2 in One Day, Now Under Investigation

DAPHNE, Ala. For the third time in less than a week, a small plane crashed in Baldwin County.
According to law enforcement, 911 received calls about a plane going down in the Belforest Community just after noon on Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2026.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Belforest Volunteer Fire Department and EMS responded to the area of the crash on Rigsby Road in Daphne.
According to Chief Menard with the Belforest Volunteer Fire Department, the pilot, who was not identified, was not injured.
The pilot said that he believes the crash may have been due to possible engine problems.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been contacted and will be picking up the plane either today or tomorrow.
A second plane crash also occurred Thursday in Summerdale as a pilot was trying to gain speed on a private runway to take off but the plane hit a hole in the runway and flipped over.
The pilot received minor injuries.
And earlier this week, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, a plane crashed in Bay Minette, injuring two persons onboard.
All three plane crashes are now under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
